Now that it is on PS plus, its gonna be my first soulslike ever. How does it compare if I want to explore the genre a bit further?

Any starting tips? Started it already for a bit, saving mechanic seems pretty brutal if you die just before the next saving spot and enemies seem to make decent chunk of damage even on basic attacks.

The combat has been a blast! I have enjoyed every weapon I have used.
