No, Korn isn’t a reference to the band. Gourdy just can’t freaking spell. Also, Toodles, Gourdy, and Alzo have a more desaturated colour pallet because in this AU the toons get more colour saturated when they get older, loosely based on a head cannon made by a fellow Reddit user. (I forgot their name, but they post a Rodger’s World AU and have an OC that I think is supposed to be a box of Valentine’s Day chocolates. Comment their username if you find them, please.)
Sorry for the language in Burnie’s slide. I just needed to get my point across. Burnie also tries and comb Basil’s head fur to kinda look like Sputter’s head tuft, because he was her caregiver when she was younger. Not in an adoptive parent way like with Shelly/Rubie, Soulvester/Gourdy, or B.B/LiterallyAnyOf TheGymLeader’s relationships. More like an older brother/little sister relationship. Basil does not like it at ALL. She also never got past Vee’s gym. (Vee’s gym is the last gym, after Sputter’s)
For context as to why some of the trainers have similar/deevolved Pokemon of the gym leaders, along with the badge, trainers who defeat the gyms are given the “baby version” of one of their Pokemon. Though, normally it’s not the baby versions of their ace Pokemon. Burnie just got EXTREMELY lucky after she defeated Soulvester. Or she received Ember after beating Sputter. Still haven’t decided yet.
Also, Soulvester’s Ceruledge is a a guy, and Sputter’s Armourage is a girl (that he nicknamed Penelope, he cannot escape Greek Mythology no matter the universe. His other Pokemon are nicknamed: Chimera the Flareon, Sphinx the Torracat, Nymea the Pyroar, and Phoenix the Talonflame. I just forgot to give them their nicknames)
