I read this YA book around the early 2000s. The main character is a teenage girl whose mother passed away fairly recently (possibly from cancer). She was living with her dad (and possibly a younger brother?). At the beginning of the book she discovers that her boyfriend has been cheating on her, and her friends knew the whole time and said nothing. She feels deeply betrayed and cuts contact with all of them. She gets a job over the summer working at a living history museum. She becomes good friends with another young woman who works there. She begins to develop a romance with a teen boy who works at the museum. I remember one specific detail that before her mother died, she bought the girl a wedding dress that she could wear at her future wedding. It was intended to be a gift so that she could keep her mother’s memory alive.
