My new daily driver!
Thought I'd post the updates to this rig been working on it over the last year and it's now being daily driven. Tons of work to get it to this point. Like many discos when you pick them up they have a lot of deferred maintenance by previous owners and it's all a catch up game. I bought this about a year ago it's a 1995 (5 speed) D1 with pretty much the full options package which is interesting as many of the manual ones in the early years at least in the US market are all pretty base spec with no sunroofs or leather.
Despite popular trends I quite like the higher spec trucks and they are quite nice if you find them in decent condition and can keep them that way. Had an 03 and 04 D2 before this but always wanted a manual D1 V8. Been a lot of fun getting this old girl back to a reliable state. (149k miles currently)
So far have done the following.
-Re-sealed sunroofs
-Full suspension refresh + bushings
-New brake calipers and discs all the way around.
-new power steering pump and lines
-reseal of entire engine top end and powdercoat and ceramic coating components and fixing exhaust leaks.
-RTE front bumper and 12k winch.
-terrafirma rock sliders
-front runner rack
-(front and rear driveshafts still need to install)
-spare R380 needs a rebuild current one second gear syncro is not happy.
