So I'm a new grad EN working at a Ramsay hospital in QLD
I'm very curious about how ENs work in QLD Health.
With Ramsay us ENs are always paired with a RN and take on a pt load of 10-12 together as team nursing (sometimes more or less depending on bums in beds)
What are the ratios like in QLD Health?
Are you paired with an RN or do you take a pt load and have an RN who has their own pt load to go to if you need to ?
Typically for a 32 bed ward we have 3 RNs and 3ENs working each shift and we split the ward up to usually 11 pts for two teams and 9 pts for the team/shift leader and their EN
What does it look like for the public system ?
I'm thinking about applying to public hospitals closer to where I live once I'm finished my Grad year but not knowing how the staffing works in public gets me a little nervous, I've only ever done my placements and grad shifts at this current hospital and am starting to feel comfy but it's just too far from my house to keep working there after my grad
