Hey friends, about a year ago I started on Lamotrigine after discovering I had bipolar disorder (shout out SSRI activation)
For the first 9 months, I had virtually zero side effects and was really happy with the drug, every few months I’d go up and notice a great improvement in symptoms but within the past 3 months I started noticing some memory issues, these memory issues have progressed to the point of near crippling debilitation (getting lost, forgetting how to do my job, not being able to remember entire days etc)
After a very scary experience and a conversation with my Psych, we’ve stopped the lamotrigine cold turkey in an effort to diagnose my memory loss. I’m on day 2 cold turkey and feel like I’ve had some improvement but not nearly enough to say I’ve recovered. Has anyone had a similar experience? If so, please tell me your mind came back, it’s very scary to consider I have permanent brain damage so I’m hoping against all hope that it is the lamotrigine and I’ll be back to normal in a couple weeks.
