Everest summit route opened as rope-fixing team reaches top

The rope-fixing team on Wednesday completed the route to the summit of Mount Everest, officially opening the way for climbers attempting the world’s highest peak this spring season.

According to Seven Summit Treks, the rope-fixing team successfully reached the summit from the Nepali side at 10:25 am, completing the 2026 rope-fixing mission from Base Camp to the top of the mountain.

The summit team included three Sherpas from the company—Mingtemba Sherpa, Pasang Nurbu Sherpa and Dendi Sherpa.

Led by Mingtemba Sherpa together with Pasang Ngima Sherpa, the fixing teams joined forces overnight after successfully fixing ropes up to the Balcony at 8,400 metres on Tuesday. They completed the final section via the South Summit to the peak.

First summit push of this season maybe on wednesday this week

Sherpa Mingma G of Imagine Nepal will try a summit push on wednesday this week with some clients directly behind the rope-fixing team. As everything is delayed this season there is a high chance that everest will become very crowded in the week of may 23-25, when the regular pre-monsoon window opens.

496 permits have been issued this year and a crowded mountain can increase the risk of tragic incidents because of longer waiting times at the hillary step.
