I wanted to share some happy news here because there’s a lot of pain and worry in this sub, and sometimes you just need a good story.
I’m 31 and have had two egg retrievals, two chemicals, and a TFMR at 22 weeks. We decided to PGT-A test our remaining four embryos before transferring.
First, I got the news that two of our embryos didn’t survive the thaw. I was gutted, but still hopeful we’d have at least one.
Then I got the call that the transfer was cancelled. They said the embryos had a chromosomal issue and that we needed to see a geneticist. Our RE thought that because both embryos had the same issue, it might be something being passed down—like potentially 50% of our embryos—and was concerned it may have contributed to our TFMR.
I absolutely spiralled for a week.
We finally saw the geneticist, and I went in thinking best case scenario was that the odds would just be lower than 50%.
But to our total surprise, he told us the chromosome duplication is actually a benign variant and we can go ahead with transfering our embryos.
I honestly feel like I’m going to vomit rainbows. I’m so, so happy that we can move forward and transfer our two remaining embryos, and just pray like hell for our take-home baby.
