WARNING: Major Facebook Group Scam – Please Read Before You Buy
Be on the lookout for a fraudulent Facebook group called Whatnot Reselling Community (they frequently change the group name).
The admin in that FB Page group is Pallet Hugger Liquidation, is a known scammer who controls the group using fake accounts to post comments and create the illusion of a trustworthy community — all to lure buyers into purchasing liquidation items.
My experience:
Two weeks ago, I fell for it. Despite having a gut feeling something was wrong — no legitimate seller offers luxury perfumes at those prices — I sent $467 via Zelle ($399 for the items + $67 for shipping) to the name Alkira Rushing. My bank flagged the transaction the first time, but the seller pressured me to resend it, specifically asking me to select "Friends & Family" in the memo — a classic scam tactic to bypass fraud protection.
Days later, they sent me a fake tracking number through "Global Parcel" and then tried to squeeze out another $300 under the guise of insurance — yet another scam layer.
That Facebook group is full of fake profiles leaving positive comments to make the operation look legitimate. I later found countless victim complaints on Reddit about these exact people — I wish I had checked sooner.
Way safer buy locally when possible and always verify authenticity
