Is it just me or is Robin actually not a particularly nice person?

She really only seemed to be interested in Ted whenever she had nothing better going on or whenever Ted was actually in a proper relationship with someone else.

This has been bothering me for some time.

I have decided to dumb it down for myself slightly and I am hoping someone can actually give me a bit more clarity on it because there's something that really doesn't make sense to me.

Up until very recently I have held a firm believe that capitalism and cash is absolutely the best way to do things but, after doing some very limited research into how it all works I am not too convinced anymore.

I've seen this happening in loved ones. As they get older their cognitive ability unfortunately declines and across most of the world we are basing our economies and the value of our currency based on the decisions people with declining cognitive ability makes. Not trying to say anyone is dumb or anything but, most people after 70 is just probably not as sharp as they were at 30.

I doubt we will every go back to the gold standard because that would of course mean the USA can't afford to deliver democracy around the world and China won't be able to afford to keep colonizing the whole of Africa.

Even if we were to start working on a BRICS currency which is theoretically great, I don't believe it will actually benefit anyone that falls below upper middle class.

Now the way I think about it is in a way that's even older (and in my opinion better) than gold.

Let's think about a cow.

With a cow one can supposedly feed a family of 4 for an entire year.

Working on the averages found on a quick Google search because I am a lazy researcher it goes like this.

Average ZAR price of a cow R13500 - R16000

Average rent in South Africa is R9218 - more than half of what can feed four people for a year.

Average salary in South Africa is R29690, I suppose the CEO of Shoprite's paycheck last year must have inflated that number because I will bet a kidney that a cashier or a cleaner doesn't earn that much.

Even if, that's not what gets paid into your bank account right?

Let's call it two cows.

A sixth of your cows goes to SARS never to be seen again. Another half of the 1.7 thats left goes goes to your landlord, another half of it goes to groceries (had you just bought the cow you would be good for 6 months, instead you're only good for 1).

Now you're left with about three quarters of a cow which you need to use to make sure you can earn your next two cows and keep what's left of that three quarters cool enough so it doesn't spoil.

It could also just be me but, I don't believe we are meant to just survive and obey.

Am I missing something somewhere or misunderstanding how it all works?

In my mind we can also scream redistribution of wealth and all kinds of stuff, we all know it won't ever happen.

What's needed is a reform of the financial system to give our money actual value instead of hoping someone doesn't go and do something completely stupid.
