Are any of you actually able to have those summers off everyone else throws in our face when we ask for a livable wage?

I am going on year number 6 as a special ed teacher, with a masters degree, and cannot imagine financially taking a summer off. I also am in an area you can’t spread your pay out 12 months so budgeting is a little harder but regardless I don’t overspend and take zero personal vacations. How many of you are actually able to take the summer off, and if so, what’s your relationship status, COL, years of service etc.

My county is very shady and gatekeep the formula on how they determine allocation for special ed positions in the inclusion/resource setting. Is anyone in a district where they actually state in writing an exact amount of cases or hours you can take on?
