Hi Devs I hope you see this
Okay so as we all know Fantastic is in the trenches right now
But why is he struggling
For starter his dmg is embarrassing for a Dps, while I understand that he can cleave multiple people.
The problems is every support, with the exception of mantis can reverse his dmg before the wind up for his attack is even complete.
Here are some examples
Fanta strikes for 65dmg in a Spell field that can cleave multiple people
Luna snow: heals with 3x24 for a total of 72 healing in one shot that’s instant.
Susan: heals for 45 going out and 35 going in for 80 total
Jeff: heals for 130/s
Adam: instant snap of 95hp
White fox: 50 on direct hits 35 on bounce
Ultron: 35hp/s
Mantis: 55 instant per seed the 10+2.5% max hp per second
Rocket:55 instantly the 50/s as it passes
Loki:40 aoe healing(per clone) +10 direct for 50
Gambit: heals for 28x3 for 84 total
As you can see he get out healed before he can wind up a 2nd punch.
This wouldn’t be an issue on it own if his other avenues for dmg weren’t buggy
Distended Grip: This is Fanta Primary way of burst dmg but it is buggy as hell
Sometimes it no regs and there are report of it not allowing you to do a follow up grab if your target moves away, this leaves Fanta on a state when one of his arms is grabbed on and he can’t do anything no matter what he does
Reflexive rubber: is actually a good ability and doesn’t require changes In my Opinion his best ability
Flexible Elongation: the Hump Thrust doesn’t do enough dmg it also sometimes will no Reg on fast diving Character
Such as Spiderman mid swing, Black cat, and even BP mid Dash
Elastic Strength:His inflate being him up to baseline and allows him to compete with other dps but reduces his range and increases his speed.
Sounds good on paper,however because of the long animation it takes to enter this state Fanta actually ended up getting punished for inflating, many times you’ll actually lose a kill because you inflated and lost range, or the animation allowed them to get a cooldown off.
Further more it’s change from taking away Bonus Health and changing it to Max health to Bonus makes him a Victim to character that deal % dmg, Think Wolve, and Iron fist,Venom
In other words instead of being rewarded for cycling this form since you have no control over it, you are punished and receive more Dmg on top of already becoming a target since your size increases.
His Ultimate most of the time gets ignored I am not sure if increasing it Dmg would solve the issue
My Proposals/ solutions
I think that Making Reed this games Stance character would be a great avenue to take him in
For starter regarding his primary I think either upping its dmg slightly maybe by 1-8 points to change some break ping would be a good idea
Or
Increase his Attack speed slightly maybe that way he could meaningfully apply pressure better, as well as allowing his primary to hit through shield as it is a spell field and Things Right click hit through shield and it is a 8m spell field as well
Fix the targeting and logic on his Distended Grip ability so that it is more reliable as a form of burst dmg,that way it will not just be used to farm elasticity as currently is.
Fix the No Regs on his flexible Elongation/Hump ability so it feels more consistent
Inflated State:Currently Inflating turn you into a battery for ult charge for the enemy team
My mini rework/change idea is
Allow Fantastic to freely enter this state by spending accumulated elasticity
In this state his Current abilities have enhanced properties
For example: Flexible Elongation(when inflated)can also Knock up like Thors push
Distended Grip(his Grab) slow and roots for longer when inflated
Reflexive Rubber: The dmg conversion rate improves as when used during inflated or the dmg absorbed refunds elasticity?
His Ultimate: Honestly I’m not sure how I would improve
I hope these proposed ideas will inject some more skill expression into this hero
(Again they’re just ideas they may very well be the dumbest thing some ppl have read and thats fine, but these exist because the hero is lackluster to say the least I hope this bring more attention to him)
Right now Fantastic is the only Dps that doesn’t do anything particularly well
He plays into Dive Comps but he can’t meaningfully kill or stop a dive
And he plays into Brawl as well but get out brawled by tanks and other melee dps.
Brawl is his best team setup but he seems to require a lot help to cover his weaknesses more so than other heroes
And he suffers into poke as most poke dps heroes all have escapes and abilities that can stall long enough if he gets close
Which he struggles to do.
I feel like with these changes he would be a viable anti dive choice
As well be a decent stand alone hero
and actually fulfill the roles we see him getting played in
