Is there any possible way a Chief could be wrong about there being a 1st billet available? Straight up told me in front of other personnel that I was going to be selected next month as long as I agreed to obliserve. For context I am shore. Also in a small community NEC. I’m very skeptical because I’m trying to not be let down. I also am 99% sure there’s no 1st class billets available at my command because we have 2 already incoming in the next few months.

Is there a chance that this doesn’t blow up in my face? Any guidance on this is appreciated.
