Local business advice

Looking at buying a business in the Cape Coral / Fort Myers area over the next 1–2 years and wanted some honest local feedback from people actually living and working here.

Background:
- I have over 7 years working in S&P500 companies oriented in finance.
- Interested in buying an existing small business, not starting from scratch
- Looking more at boring/service businesses than “fun” businesses
- Open to industries tied to growth, maintenance, recurring revenue, HOA/community services, marine, pool services, etc.

Not interested in:
Restaurants/bars
Trendy concepts
Businesses completely dependent on one owner working 70 hours/week

I’m trying to understand where locals think there’s:
strong demand,
poor service/lack of professionalism,
fragmented competition,
aging owners with no succession plans.

Examples I’ve looked at:
pool service
commercial cleaning
garage organization/floor coatings
HOA/property maintenance
niche B2B services

Curious what businesses locals constantly complain about or think are underserved in Cape Coral/SWFL.
Would appreciate real answers, not “just start a car wash/storage facility

Hello everyone,

29M who works from home with gf and dog. I’ll be moving to Cape Coral from the east coast of Florida. I was looking for any sort of social clubs in the area to make friends as a newcomer? Any other suggestions other than bars?
