Hello, I have IBS. Recently, my provider told me she could provide documentation to my employer to be able to park closer to my job site. I currently park off campus and have to take a shuttle. My IBS has been difficult to control lately and I’m working with my provider. I had an accident on the shuttle last week. I’m beyond mortified and so scared it’s gonna happen again. I filled a ADA for parking accommodations at work and this is the email I just got:
we recommend you work with your provider and the Department of Motor Vehicle to acquire an accessible placard which can then be used at any facility. This ensures a consistent practice and experience for all employees needing closer parking and will likely meet your needs. We do not expedite parking requests.
I do not qualify for a placard in my state (CO) and I don’t need or want a blue spot. I just need to be closer to a building with a bathroom. I don’t want to take a blue spot from someone who really needs it.
I am on a waitlist to park closer to work but the wait is 10-14 months.
I asked my provider for a letter explaining the situation. I know it might not work since they don’t expedite parking requests but I’m not sure what to do. The last 5 months have been torture dealing with my symptoms and now I’m more scared about my commute. Remote work is not an option for my job.
Any recommendations?
Thank you
