Seller considering not breaking chain
Hi. I'm in England.
I'm selling the house i own (and live in) with my ex, we are both purchasing flats individually. Our buyers are chain free (although currently trying to chip away at the price agreed in Jan, but that's another story) and my ex's onward purchase is empty and chain free.
The flat I'm buying is owned (and lived in) by a lady who said she would break the chain to get the sale done. She's been on the market for 2+ years. She is now saying she "might" offer on an onwards property and tie that in with my purchase. The agent has told her that they have records of her agreeing to break the chain and that was a big reason I offered on her flat, not others I was viewing at the same time. They think she's just a bit scatty and doesn't understand how much of a pain that would be, but I'm not so trusting and am worried.
Is there anything I can do here? Or is it just a case of let the agent/solicitors handle it and try to make her see sense? I could cry. Again!
This is so stressful. Adulting is overrated.
