Uncle Junior's Decline

I've watched the whole series once, years ago. Just began another rewatch. To me, the first time, Uncle Junior's slow decline was interesting enough. I figured it had already began before the show, and all his little incidents were just part of that. Last night I watched the episode where his acquired taste for "whistling in the wheat field" is outed and he pies the woman he was dating. His fragility and cruelty in that was a lot more hard hitting this time.

But, I also think it's a crossroads for his character... If he hadn't done that, maybe he wouldn't have to pay so much karmic debt later. That was his last shot at love, and he blew it. Doomed to hang out and go to funerals with Bobby for basically the rest of his life. Sad.
