I know for shoegaze, reverb tends to go into fuzz, but are there any other best practices for either style? Any must have pedal types or brands?

Really just curious about the beginning, and I know it’s ultimately up to taste but curious if there is a general rule of thumb for the below:

Tuner, fuzz, whammy pedal, wah pedal, envelope filter (like EHX attack decay)
