What be this? It’s glued onto the wall studs in the unfinished laundry room with a wire leading from it stapled to the stud leading all the way down behind the dryer. As far as I can tell, the wire doesn’t lead anywhere else. It looks like there’s a small window for a light but no light is there. I’ve tried pushing on different parts of it to see if anything opens up, but it doesn’t. From its size it looks like it could hold two AA batteries.

During the Battle of Five Armies, Bilbo is knocked unconscious just after announcing the coming of the Eagles. He awakens the next day, calling out to a man he sees for news. The man, however, can't locate him because Bilbo had been wearing the One Ring during the melee; he removes it to continue their conversation and the man then carries him back to camp.

But I'm interested in what would have happened if Bilbo had been killed. With the ring on his finger, would his corpse have remained invisible? For how long? Until his finger bones rotted away? I assume, because of the odor, that scavenging birds and bugs would have detected him and done their part in the circle of life. Or would he have become visible again the moment he died, in the Ring's effort to shed its current host for a new one?
