Hi everyone,

I’m currently studying Korean in Korea on a D-4 visa (language program at a university), and I’m thinking about applying for a D-10 (job-seeking visa) after I finish my course.

I’ve been checking the requirements and the points-based system, and I think I might meet many of the conditions, but I’m not sure if switching directly from D-4 to D-10 is actually possible in practice.

My situation:
- Currently on D-4 (language student)
- Planning to finish level 6
- Planning to take TOPIK before finishing the program
- I have a university degree (from Spain)
- I don’t have much work experience yet, since I graduated in Spain, came to Korea, and only worked for less than a year. Also, with the student visa, working hours are quite limited
- I’m aiming to find a job in Korea afterwards

My questions:

  1. Has anyone successfully changed from D-4 to D-10?
  2. Did you apply directly, or did you need to switch to another visa first?
  3. How strict is the points system in reality?
  4. Do you think my profile would realistically qualify?

I’d really appreciate hearing about real experiences 🙏
