Second prep attempt still not working (PST)

Hi everyone,

I am attempting to do my prep for a double endoscopy tomorrow and I’m starting to panic and would be thrilled if anyone has any advice (and also apologize in advance for the rambling). The procedure is to investigate years of pretty severe chronic constipation and general stomach pain.

I have a rescheduled colonoscopy in the morning with a pretty intense prep. I’ve been taking miralax for the past 4 days, 3 days now of full liquid diet, chugging water nonstop, mixing mirilax with Gatorade, but it’s just not working well or quickly. My pharmacy never filled the golytely so all I have is miralax and some electrolyte mix.

I recall the golytely being pretty painless, but the laxatives I have now are wrecking my stomach. They just make me cramp and gurgle and sprint to the bathroom, but barely anything will come out. To make things harder I have other medical conditions (migraines, autoimmune issues/dysautonomia) that the prep is exacerbating. I know prep isn’t fun for anyone, I don’t expect it to be painless. But I’m doing it with a baseline migraine, whole-body pain, nauseous, and I feel like I’m going to pass out every time I try to poop.

The doctor said that despite my “discomfort” I should continue with laxatives and that he thinks I’m just being dramatic. I asked what would happen if I had another cancelled/failed colonoscopy, and he said he would just make me drink two golytely jugs back to back next time. Is that even possible??? I couldn’t even finish my jug last time because I was going to just throw it up.

Should I even bother trying to drink more miralax and Gatorade mix? I just want to get this over with, but I have so little faith in the prep and my angry guts. And if I can’t get the prep to work today, am I overreacting for thinking that two jugs of prep liquid is an unreasonable expectation? Are there really no other options for if a colonoscopy becomes physically impossible?

Disclaimer: I hope no one here would, but please don’t just tell me I’m a terrible dog mom. I know. It’s not fair to him to have a mom who can’t meet his needs and I want to bridge that gap so he can be his happiest and healthiest pup self.

Hi everyone!

We have the sweetest Yorkie, he’s almost 10 but never lost his puppy energy. I know he needs lots of play and engagement to stay happy and calm, and I am definitely falling short here. He barks nonstop and I know it’s because he has excess energy. Unfortunately, I have pretty limited movement since getting sick a few years ago, and I get really sick in sun/heat, so long walks are really difficult in the summer.

How are you guys keeping your critters entertained on bad flare days?? Right now I try to do fetch/tug of war with him but he doesn’t like when I throw from bed, he really wants me to be on my feet. I also try to take him for 10-15 minute walks around the block whenever I can tolerate the heat, and so does my wife when they aren’t at work.

My partner and I both care for our dog, but my partner works and I’m unemployed so I have lots of time to fill with him!

Hi everyone!

I’m hoping for some second opinions before drafting my resignation letter for my job. I want to make sure I’m not overreacting.

So back in January, I connected with HR to discuss a possible accommodation and verify if my request was reasonable. HR rep agreed that it was a reasonable accommodation and that she would handle getting the task/job off my workload.

Fast forward to yesterday, when my employer assigned me the same task for the FOURTH time since January, and the second time this month. It’s likely been more than four times, but I only have documentation for those four. I’m trying to be forgiving because they’re doing a lot of corporate restructuring and switching up staff. But because there’s no documentation that I need an accommodation, I come across looking like I’m just refusing to do my job.

I had the same issue at my last job, so I wasn’t sure if this was standard practice or not. Should I be expecting my employer to document an accommodation anywhere?
I will be resigning regardless because they already cut my hours and switched me to emergency on-call, but I’m not sure if I should bring up the accommodation thing in my notice.

Thanks a bunch!!
