My Mid Century German Piston Fillers

My Mid Century German Piston Fillers

On the top my Lamy 2000 bought new in 2017

On the bottom my Pelikan M20 Silvexa new to me this year.

Although 50 years separate these two particular pens, the models coexisted in the 60s! The Pelikan came first in 1965 while the Lamy came out in 1966. They were, however in different price brackets: the Pelikan was 20DM in this Silvexa cap, while the Lamy was 42DM, more than twice the like price!

Here it is...Yet another vintage Aurora 88 from the first generation, commonly referred as "Nizzoli", last name of the famous italian industrial designer who designed the 88.

I do have an obsession with these old 88s but they keep popping up for really cheap and sometimes i can't pass on the deal. And I don't have duplicates! Yes i do have a first generation 88 also with a gold cap, but that one is a short cap, this one is a more standard regular cap. My ultimate plan is to collect as many variations as possible.

Now regarding this particular 88, it's a standard gold filled cap i suppose from the early fifties from the production number (1.2milion roughly). This one I got supper lucky, It appears to have been repaired at some point in it's life, since the piston seals are not original. It only needed some lubrication and it's working great. The nib is fairly rigid but smooth and moderately wet.
