I recently had my PIP assessment and I was scored zero points for planning and following journeys
I explained during my assessment that due to visual sight difficulties as well as cognitive/sensory/and mental health problems I struggle to complete journeys at all without a specific orientation aid.
I utilise specific apps on my mobile phone - 2 of the main ones being Lazarillo and the other Soundscape.
I use either one of these apps for all journeys familiar or unfamiliar to help me. They are not like google maps or waze - they guide me through the environment, both indoors and outdoors, with voice messages and alerts - they are not for navigation - but more to orientate me as I travel - for example as I’m walking down the street it will announce - doctors surgery on my left or right and how many metres away and bus stops the same.
When completing my MR
When I explain the above does this count as an orientation aid, and how can I evidence this.
I have the apps on my phone and can screenshot etc - but I am not sure if the DWP recognise this as an aid or not.
