Washington, DC/Georgetown/Dumbarton Oaks

It lies in the very heart of Georgetown.

Don't be shy..... just go.

The Gardens at Dumbarton Oaks in Washington, D.C.'s Georgetown neighborhood are a historic, 16-acre terraced garden designed by Beatrix Farrand for Robert and Mildred Bliss, featuring distinct "rooms" with English, French, and Italian influences, fountains, and vistas. It's in a parallel dimension, one that you'll come to treasure.

It's calling to you.

Washington, DC/Georgetown University Campus

One of the most photogenic campuses I've seen.

Washington, DC/Formerly The Franklin School

At one point this historic building was converted into a "Museum of Sound." I'm at a loss as to its current status as any kind of entity. I can say that I never see anyone enter or leave it when I'm in the area of Franklin Square.

Anyhow, it's a beautiful building that should be in use for practical purposes.

Georgetown Revisited

It's simply too iconic not to pay it another visit.

I hope that you love it as much.

Washington, DC/Stone At Random

I think that this is 18th Street....just at the base of Adams Morgan. The building is from a bygone era...but doesn't disappoint the sense of the viewer or the aesthetics of the neighborhood.

The Cosmo Club/Parking Lot Entrance

It's in the details.

The Cosmos Club in Washington, D.C., is a prestigious private social club founded in 1878 for distinguished individuals in science, literature, and the arts, known for its elegant clubhouse, fine dining, and intellectual programming. It offers a welcoming environment for members and their guests to socialize, dine, and engage in cultural and scholarly activities, with a history of prominent members including Nobel laureates, Supreme Court justices, and U.S. Presidents. Membership requires distinction in a professional field, and the club maintains a formal dress code and a tradition of high-quality service.

Help ID'ing This Structure

I do Google Maps and ever so often I come across an enigma... like this one. It has a clearly marked place name and address (The Belgrade/1930). But GM's has no recognition of it...which makes posting it accurately an ordeal.

Can anyone advise?

Thanks

Black Wrought Iron In Winter = Magical

The Old Naval Hospital is a historic building located at 921 Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast Washington, D.C., in the Capitol Hill neighborhood.

It's also known as "The Hill Center."

There's something about heavy black iron that says "class, sophistication and eternity" all at once. It's poetry in still life.

Should I ever be so fortunate to have the opportunity to build a home according to my aesthetic, iron and stone would be the first materials on the block. Everything else would follow.

Smithsonian National Postal Museum/Washington, D.C.

This building was designed by the very same artist who designed the one directly across from it...."Union Station."

The attention to detail in this.... masterpiece is awe inspiring. These photos pale in comparison.....but my position is to do only what I can.
