Been working at Fedex as a PH unloader since July. Can only do one shift in a day, no double shifts allowed. I transitioned to OPH so I can work other jobs and pick up shifts in between those jobs. I work for one company that contracts me on a 1099 basis and isn't super regular and then I do further gig work outside of that.
Right now I am being offered a decent gig out of state. The actual work assignment is 31 days long, and if you include a day before for travelling there and a day for travelling back, puts me at 33 days where I would be gone and cannot pick up a shift.
Obviously, the gig work and 1099 job aren't exactly stable, and I would hate to give up the flexibility OPH was giving me at Fedex. However, this is a really good job that would be stupid to turn down since its in an industry I'm actively breaking into.
My question is, since OPH states that you have to work 2 shifts in a rolling 30 day period, could I, in theory, work 2 days at the beginning of one 30 day period and then work 2 shifts at the end of the next 30 day period, giving me about 56 days off in between?
In doing so, I could work a few days during this first week in May, take off for the rest of the month to do my other work assignment, then come back and work during the second week of June and not have to worry about being fired?
