I know a lot of people enjoy the way the story is going, and don't get me wrong, I am a lifelong half life fan. I know everything you could wanna know and have played these games hundreds of times over, but does anybody else also feel like the change from Eli dying to Alyx is missing just seem like an incredible buzzkill? I know I felt such a strong inspiration from his death to finish the series and irradicate the combine afterwards, it made me mad, angry, sad, all the proper emotions. I mean they really got us to love Eli, he's an important figure. I feel like he was MEANT to die and MEANT to give us our strong heartbreak and inspiration. Now its "Guys Alyx is missing/kidnapped/injured again lets go find her!" and feels like it really kicks the story back compared to what we could have had. The only reaction I really had to it was "are we real" because it made all of that for nothing. It is a good concept that the GMAN would take interest in her, but not so far as to replace the story so heavily.

Do you feel like this is what half life was meant to be?
