Hi, me again.
Bought a house with a pool last year. Professional closed it, supposedly blew out the lines and added antifreeze. We went to open on Sunday and couldn't get suction to the pump. After running a drain king back towards the skimmer, we found a bunch of cracks in the PVC at the pump. The pipes are under 5 years old.
Discovered the valve to close off the pipes to the pump was never shut because it's physically stuck open.
Plumbers are saying the Schedule 40 the sellers installed isn't pressure rated, should have done Schedule 80. Pool inspector and Google are saying Schedule 40 is fine and standard for residential pools - possible failure caused by the colder than normal NC winter and/or bad install.
Either way, I'm feeling boned by the situation especially since there's not really any options for a second opinion. Do I spend the extra to do Schedule 80 (possible overkill) or save the money and redo Schedule 40 (possibly the same problem again)?
