Possible virus / infostealer on Marvel SpiderMan: Miles Morales fitgirl repack?
Hi everyone! Something happened to me and I wanted to see if it’s happened to any of you. I may have downloaded and installed Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales from the correct site (.site) via a 1337x torrent magnet, downloaded the patch, and ran it with admin privileges.
Shortly after, my passwords were stolen from the Google account I was logged into on Chrome. There were login attempts on almost every site where I had saved credentials, and within a couple days, all my passwords were flagged as compromised, besides a bunch of software i don't remember installing, with the same installed date as the game. Since this isn't my first time "sailing the seas" and I knew FitGirl was supposed to be a safe site, I was wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences with the site or this specific game. In the past, I’ve used much sketchier sites without any issues, so this seems strange to me.
P.S. Don't worry, I’ve changed all my passwords and nothing was actually stolen even if it was close. I haven't turned on my infected PC since then, but I’ve read that the only way to be truly safe is to reformat it. I’ll definitely disconnect it from the internet before turning it on next time to run an antivirus scan, though I’ve heard that these things can hide very well and even recreate themselves if deleted, especially with admin privileges.
