If you were forced into a 1 on 1 fight, what would your opening sequence be?

I love the sports aspect of BJJ, it’s awesome. But the main reason I got into BJJ is because in my profession, there is risk of me being assaulted suddenly. I don’t have any striking training, but I am interested in some classes.

Assuming you were forced to fight, no running away, the person has not had fighting training, similar size to you, and it was happening right now, what would your opening sequence be? Striking, takedown, guard pull (please no…). Have fun with this!

I think if push came to shove, I would charge in hands over face rhino style, carefully managing striking distance as best as I could, and try for an arm drag or double unders / body lock, go for a back take, and try a back take take down into technical mount of mount and work for a gift wrap to hold them until their adrenaline dies down.

Do you roll differently with partners having different belts?

Specifically for people that you don’t know, such as drop ins or open mats. If you are rolling with a new partner, does the color of their belt affect how you engage them, or do you essentially roll the same way regardless? If it does change, what is your thought process based on the belt? More reserved with white belts due to spazziness? Turn it up against a brown/black belt? Etc.
