I recommended Hannibal to a lot of people and many of them stopped watching after the mushrooms scene. Is it really that shocking?

I personally found it very beautiful, the soundtrack was amazing too.

I couldn’t convince those people to continue, maybe that’s just fine. Not everyone can appreciate true art

[HEAVY SPOILERS ALERT]

When you rewatch too much, you start noticing things. Here are some observations on how Will wore his wedding band in S3.

I'm saying sorry in advance for some of the screenshots, i was trying to take the best ones where his hand is visible. A few scenes from the season are not included because there were no clear shots of Will's hands. omg the amount of time he has his hands in his pockets was driving me mad

let's start

https://preview.redd.it/txg495jp8kzg1.png?width=3840&format=png&auto=webp&s=a8c169750d2ee4811d1a588fc675b79635f58edf

We start with Episode 8. Will obviously wears his ring at home with Molly, but when he visits the latest crime scene I could not clearly see the ring (even through the gloves we would see the outline, but i'm not sure). neext

https://preview.redd.it/td8g4j9e9kzg1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=188d63235a45391f856fa8ad4e694f85be30df81

Then we see Will at hotel room (?) when he accepted Jack's offer and returned to the FBI. The ring is there. neext

https://preview.redd.it/v37zf7tw9kzg1.png?width=3840&format=png&auto=webp&s=38d15b8c48cc608c91dbb889a3e6c3cb672567c2

At the end of Episode 8 we have a beautiful scene of Will visiting Hannibal in the chapel (fantastic). Ring is on. HOWEVER in episode 9 we don't see a ring (i looked very hard). And in the scene with Alana right after he visits Hanni and waits for him to look at the files, the ring is clearly missing. neext

https://preview.redd.it/as9hblckbkzg1.png?width=3840&format=png&auto=webp&s=50bdcadd0150051372f04c2f37e9a2ae09c69f0a

Hanni and Will discuss the files on the tooth fairy. In the victims' house - no ring. In the backyard at night - yes? no? hard to tell. Will leaves the BSHCI with no ring on his finger. neext

https://preview.redd.it/v7fpx9tlckzg1.png?width=3840&format=png&auto=webp&s=a80f4eb100cb2eb58ece8353a41831d6d76a848a

Will visits (in reality) the victims' house (where he meets Freddie). No ring in sight. neext

https://preview.redd.it/0kai6q47dkzg1.png?width=3840&format=png&auto=webp&s=f1353fd3f7ccdb87cc658ba52f88103f1de652f4

Will gets to his room, calls Molly and then he can see him having a nightmare. Ring is on. No more shots for Episode 9. neext

Episode 10 doesn't have many scenes. And in all of them ring is present: Will visits Bedelia's lecture, visits Hannibal, and has an encounter with the Dragon at the museum. neext

So for the rest of the season Will's wedding band is on his finger and it's pretty clear on every scene. Here are some screenshots (with fewer descriptions if you don't mind me):

after attack on molly (hospital/hannibal's cell)

will's watching chilton's video + session with bedelia

dragon and will at will's hotel

finale

Soooo do whatever you want with this information :)
I find it hard to believe this was a mistake by the props team. The attention to detail in Hannibal is impeccable, but I do not remember any discussion on this, maybe you do?
If Will purposefully chose not to wear his wedding band during his first visit to Hannibal in years, that's... intense.
Maybe he doesn't want Hannibal to know he's married (for safety? avoid provoking? jealousy?), but the bastard literally smelled a child on him so in the next visits he wears his ring because he no longer has to hide it? I would love to hear your thoughts on this

PS i should have chosen red for YES and green for NO haha

When I first saw the Hannibal's heart I instantly thought about the work of Berlinde de Bruyckere - belgium artist. Especially in the episode where the 'heart' untwists and starts walking...
She explores suffering, humanity, uncanny and a lot more through the scupltures and installation. I studied her art in uni, it's very deep and beautiful both visually and conceptually, so if you are interested definitely check out her work. She also has many sculptures with antlers and.... horses (social workers' biggest fear)

AND if you have any chance to see her work offline, DO IT. it's magnificent, i spent an hour breathlessly staring at one of her sculptures in S.M.A.K. museum in Ghent

We’ve just finished season 2 with my husband. It’s my 10+ rewatch over the last 10 years, he watches the second time.

So the Bloodfest started and my eyes were already watering because the soundtrack in my head is stitched permanently with tears. I cry every time, no exceptions.

Every time I feel my heart physically breaking. It’s genuinely painful.

After the credits rolled, my husband and I had a dialogue that left me completely reeling:

- (him) Why are you crying?

+ (me) Because I’m sad and it hurts

- Why exactly it hurts?

(Me, being completely confused)

+ Because I felt the heartbreak as if my own

- Whose heartbreak?

+ Hannibal’s.. and Will’s.. well, everyone’s

- So you are not crying because 3 people just got slaughtered?

+ Well, yeah, it’s sad too. But it’s much more than that…

- Why do you feel sorry for him? He’s crazy

+ I’m not saying he isn’t. But it’s still a heartbreak

I fully understand why someone would have zero empathy for Hannibal. If your moral compass is functioning normally, it’s hard to see past the kills and the manipulation.

But there is a BUT. And this but makes me feel like something is wrong with me.

I remember my first watch, when I was not even slightly terrified by the level of violence in the show (I'm unfortunately accustomed to it due to personal experiences). By my third+ watch, I started seeing the "human" nature of Hannibal. I began to empathize with him because he does have feelings, and Mads Mikkelsen’s performance is just too nuanced to ignore. When you start analyzing every sentence and the connections between dialogue spoken 5 episodes apart, the tragedy deepens.

Having a degree in atts, I’m sensitive to the visual language as well and the references used to display these emotions.
For me, Mizumono was never heartbreaking because people died (I don’t even feel sorry for Alana tbh), it was heartbreaking because I could see two men falling apart: physically and emotionally. The feeling of total betrayal, of lost hope, and shattered trust is so much more intense to me than the act of violence itself.

I have to believe I’m not the only one who feels this way.

PS Is this the moment to start my own series “who the fck did I marry” haha

Edit:: every comment makes my heart break again for all of you guys (sobs)

Me and my husb decided to rewatch our favourite movies/series last week - first day his movie, the next mine and so on by turns.
My series is Hannibal (obviously), his is LoR
On the third day I realised we've been watching pretty blue-eyed curly-haired brunette being cOnFuSeD from time to time while being followed everywhere by a big blonde man who cares for and loves him dearly
i'm laughing hard at the parallels omg

ps it's a joke and yeah i now Sam is not actually in love but the way he looks at Frodo... jesus who will ever look at me like this?
