Understanding results of a mold test on 130 y old home
Hi,
I'm in the process of buying this 130 year old home. It has had a lot of love put into it, but not so much the basement, which is purely a tiny little grotto that holds the water heater, electrical, some plumbing obviously...
The foundation is a stone and concrete one, the inspectors told us the level of humidity and wetness seeping in that basement is expected for homes this age.
I'm not particularly worried about the levels of mold in that basement, even though they look astranomically high, but maybe I'm wrong to think this way. No one is going to go down there for more than 30 minutes at a time, not more than once a week. I plan to run a strong de-humidifier in there 24/7 to try to keep it dryer at least and likely get a foundation expert out to check around every few years.
However for the other rooms, I am a little concerned on some of the slightly elevated levels. I have a one year old and wonder if that could have any reasonable health consequences.
The second level, where bedrooms are weren't tested, I don't know why yet.
Appreciate any thoughts, whether advice or inferences, from those with experience and those having dealt with / lived in older homes.
