Sleep lab refused to do my study because "I was asking too many questions"
I'm a 20 year old male, since the age of 14 I've been experiencing symptoms of severe fatigue, concentration issues and sleepiness during the day. Doctors never take me seriously prescribing vitamins and other crap. I've been told to follow generic advice like playing football and sports and what not. Nothing has helped, I wake up feeling like I'm floating through life. it doesn't matter how long I sleep, the feeling persists. I have other symptoms like anxiety and irritability. I learned about sleep apnea and my symptoms line up of with it perfectly. Only difference is that I don't snore loudly. However, I learned that UARS is more common in younger people. Recently I contacted a lab and asked them questions regarding the test they offered. I was told it was a full polysomnography. However there were a few red flags during the day of my test. I was called by the tech and told that if he didn't see anything during the first 2 hours they'd stop the test, which seems bizarre considering it's supposed to be 5-6 hours regardless. Next I noticed the report had RERAs on it but they didn't score it at all. I called them and they told me to talk to the tech, the tech said that someone else at the lab did the scoring. I called them then and asked them that if they didn't score RERAs, if they would provide me the raw data, and after a long convo they said something about not being able to give it to me because of a license or something? I then asked the tech if he could atleast note if my heart rate was spiking in the night during events unrelated to apneas and hypopneas. He said hed see. Later I got a call and the lab pretty much refused to do my test. They said they'd refund my money and if I didn't like it, I could find some other place. Even before the test they pretty much told me that in younger people they're usually just depressed or anxious lol. This was the most bizarre interaction I've had with any clinic and asking them questions about a test is my right lol. I'll try and find a lab next that actually scores with the AASM 1a criteria
