Did they really have to put only one episode of an anime on a laserdisc?
I bought a JoJo's Bizarre Adventure OVA laserdisc a while back just because I love the series and thought it would be a neat thing to have. I didn't have a laserdisc player and honestly didn't plan on getting one. A friend of mine knew that I had the disc though and ended up giving me a working player that their grandparents had and I finally got to watch it, and I was honestly pretty shocked to learn there was only one episode on the disc and only like 15 minutes of video per side plus some bonus content with Araki at the end (which was really neat). I'm not super familiar with the format but can't you put like 60 minutes of video on one side of a laserdisc? Certainly you could fit a good chunk of episodes on a single disc? I even looked into other anime that had laserdisc releases like Evangelion and it mostly seems like they'd only ever put one episode on a disc.
What's the point though? Why waste resources and make your customers buy every single episode one by one when you could just condense a show down to a handful of laserdiscs? I know if I was buying VHS tapes or DVDs I wouldn't buy them if they just had one episode on it.
