6,000 km in and the dreaded AC error appeared. Service wants 100€ for a rental while they "investigate" for 2 days. Is this normal? I
Hi everyone, new here.
My ID.4 just hit the 6,000 km (3,700 miles) mark and I’ve already got the "AC not working properly" error (Klimaanlage funktioniert nicht richtig. Werkstatt aufsuchen).
Since the car is practically brand new and under full factory warranty, I’m pretty annoyed by the dealer's response:
- Wait time: 2 weeks until they can even look at it.
- The "Deal": They need it for 2 days, but they want me to pay 50€ ($55) per day for a rental car.
Is this normal for VW service? I feel like a warranty issue on a new car shouldn't cost the customer extra money for a loaner.
Has anyone dealt with this specific AC error? Is it usually just a sensor/software bug that they could quickly scan, or is this a sign of a bigger hardware issue (compressor/coolant)?
I’m tempted to push back on the rental fee, especially since the AC system is critical for battery thermal management. Any advice on how to handle the dealership would be greatly appreciated! I'm based in Germany btw.
