Dwarfen Mountain Holds for a Beginner?
I’ve been thinking about starting an Old World Dwarf army, but I’m still not sure if it’s a good idea. I’m completely new to the rules, and some posts I’ve read have left me with mixed feelings about how they play on the tabletop. That said, the war machines and gyrocopters seem really fun, and I usually enjoy playing gunline-style armies in other GW games.
I also really like Chaos Dwarfs and Ogres aesthetically and lore-wise, but since they’re “Legends” armies, I’m not sure how much long-term support they’ll realistically get. Because of that, the Dwarfen Mountain Holds are currently the faction that attracts me the most overall.
For people already playing The Old World:
- How are Dwarfs doing right now?
- Are they beginner friendly?
- Do they still feel fun and thematic despite being slower?
- And would you recommend starting them over Chaos Dwarfs or Ogres for someone completely new to the system?
I was thinking about getting the Battalion box and the Lords kit to start, but I’d love to hear opinions before I commit to buying and painting an army.
