First Car Dilemma: 2010 Accord V6 vs 2013 Camry 4cyl vs Older Camry V6s. Which would you choose?
I’m in Ontario, Canada and buying my first “serious” car after getting a stable job ($73k/yr gross).
I do not plan to drive a lot. My commute is about 10 km each way to work, 5 days a week, plus weekend driving around Mississauga/Brampton.
Budget is around CAD $8k-$10k.
Here are my options:
1. Honda Accord 2010 v6
156,000 km
Clean Carfax history
V6
Timing belt history unknown
I really like the styling, interior and driving feel
Concerned about VCM issues, oil consumption, jerking/misfires
2. Toyota Camry 2013 LE
113,000 km
4-cylinder
AC not working
But honestly I find the car a bit boring looking
3. Toyota Camry 2009 SE V6
138,000 km
3-4 accident records
V6
Looks decent otherwise
4. Toyota Camry 2007 SE V6
260,000 km
Cheapest option
Higher mileage worries me
What would you choose in my position and why?
Main priorities:
Reliability
Reasonable maintenance costs
Still enjoying the car visually/driving-wise
Avoiding a money pit
Also for Accord V6 owners:
How bad are the VCM issues in real-world driving? Is installing a VCM muzzler enough to make ownership relatively stress-free?
