Structo-lite followed by All Purpose Drywall compound?

I bought a Frankenstein house where an exterior wall became an interior wall during an addition. Someone recommended I cover the wall in Structo-Lite to get more of a plaster-like finish. I’m not super happy with how it’s looking and it feels like it needs another coat of something. Does anyone have experience putting all-purpose drywall compound over Structo-Lite to get a slightly smoother finish? Curious if that’s a reasonable next step or if there’s a better product/process I should use.
