For people who live in rent stabilized apts through the NYC Housing Lottery, aka these so "called luxury" apartments, is your landlord/management company charing a "utility charge" on top of paying ConED bill? My building is claiming they are buying energy through ConEd and then billing each unit individually based on their usage, however these bills are as high as $300 for a one bedroom and again everyone is also paying ConED directly which is already high. Please lmk what everyone's experience is, is this the norm, is this illegal, many of us think this is a scam as it also doesn't state this in my lease. When I've asked for more information the management company skirts around the questions and has become unresponsive at times but continues to bill all of us.
