Scammed by home owner
I was in a 2BHK in HSR for 2 years. On April 15 I told the owner I’ll be moving out by May 15.
They said notice should be at month-end so the next tenant can come on the 1st. So they’ll cut full May rent because finding someone mid-month is tough.
I said it's not at mentioned in agreement and argued but finally out of frustration I agreed to take May rent, but I’ll also try to find someone. If a tenant comes mid-May, just cut rent till that date and return the balance. They said okay to that.
I put up ads, told a few brokers, and actually found some people. But the owner kept rejecting them for silly reasons.
We vacated today. They’ve deducted 2 months from my deposit , one for painting, one for full May rent. They said if someone moves in during May, they’ll refund the extra amount.
But today my broker found out from another broker that the flat is already booked. New tenant is moving in on the 12th.
So basically they’re planning to take full May rent from me and also from the new tenant. This feels such fraud and scam..
