N2 Designs. Great products, trash company

Last year I bought the N2-B3-TOY6TO-K (Push button start with key takeover) for my 2016 Tacoma. It took forever to actually get BUT I love it.

After using it for a while with the terrible range on my OEM fob, I decided to spring for the smart phone module. I wasn't paying attention when I ordered but I accidentally ordered the wrong one. (I bought the one for the push button start with NO takeover)

Again it took forever to arrive (about 2 months). Once it finally arrived I went to install and realized I got the wrong one. I didn't initiate a return because I didn't want to wait another 2 months for a new one, so I called customer service to see if I could just buy the correct harness. Left a voicemail and never heard back.

Since then I have called 2 more times and emailed support twice and after 3 months, never heard a thing from them!

I'm handy so I figured I might be able to figure it out myself and tonight in the process of doing just that, I realized... THEY DON'T MAKE THESE THINGS!

The $300 N2-B3-TOY6TO-K remote starter I originally bought is actually a Directed Electronics DB3 that you can get for $59.99 on Amazon.

The $300 smart phone module that's on sale for $189?? Carlink ASCL7. You can pick one of those up off Ebay for about $150.

These guys got me for $489 plus taxes and shipping for about $210 worth of product minus harnesses.

I was able to figure out how to connect the smart phone module (ASCL7) without the proper harness and it works great. Great products from Directed Electronics and Voxx Carlink but horrendous customer service from their middle man.
