Positive Experience - 1 month in

Hello! 24F here - I wanted to share a positive experience for those who may be starting or considering this med! I chose Qelbree to treat my ADHD as someone who has past substance abuse issues, so adderall/vyvanse was not an option. When I was first starting this med, I came to this subreddit & will not lie, some of yall had me SCARED lol. Rightfully so, all very valid concerns and symptoms that were in the back of my mind to keep an eye out for and talk to my Dr about.

I can positively say after a little over a month on 200mg of Qelbree, I feel like a whole different person. The people in my life have even noticed a difference too. The reduction in brain fog/noise has been such a relief! I feel more awake and productive, and while getting a task started is still difficult sometimes, I find when I finally start, I’m actually able to focus on the task at hand and not get distracted. I’m going to stay on the 200mg dose as it seems to be really beneficial right now and I don’t feel the need to increase.

Here are some of my notes on side effects:

- The first week or so I felt a bit weird, kind of sleepy but also awake if that makes sense?

- One of the frequently mentioned cons that I read for this medication was sleep issues ; My sleep hasn’t changed too much, I remember the first 3-4 nights I woke up around 2-3am which isn’t normal for me, but after that I’ve been sleeping just fine. (I also take high absorption magnesium glycinate to help with sleep!). I’ve gotten better about actually waking up on time in the morning and just overall feel better as I’m not a morning person.

- I’ve definitely noticed a decrease in my appetite but i keep on top of eating when l’m actually hungry.

- My only real con to this medication is the constipation which is the one side effect I’ve been frequently experiencing. It’s obviously not the end of the world and there’s remedies for it, just really uncomfortable sometimes. If you’ve experienced that specific side effect, is there something you’ve found that works for you?

Having the option to treat my ADHD without a stimulant is a dream and life feels just a bit more manageable and less daunting. I hope this post is helpful to someone!
