I got a tattoo from an artist back in March and really liked her work, so I wanted to book with her again before a trip I have coming up the second week of May.
After my first appointment, she told me her books were open for May and to DM her when I had an idea. About a week later, I sent her a reference for a fine line gladiolus flower piece (pretty simple, two flowers with some vines), and she said she could do it. We ended up booking for May 4 at 1 PM, and I sent a $50 deposit.
Today (the day of the appointment), she messaged me about an hour and a half before saying she wasn’t feeling well and asked to reschedule. I was definitely bummed because I had taken time off work and was really looking forward to it, but I completely understood and told her that was fine.
I immediately asked if she had availability later this week or early next week since I’m trying to get it done before my trip.
It’s now been several hours and she hasn’t responded. The message hasn’t been marked as seen, but I’ve noticed she’s been active on Instagram and even posted on her story.
I’m trying not to overthink it because I get that people get busy or don’t check DMs right away, but it’s making me a little anxious since I’m on a time crunch and already paid a deposit.
Would you message again after a day or two, or just start looking for another artist? I don’t want to be annoying, but I also don’t want to run out of time before my trip.
I checked her shop’s social media and saw she posted a finished tattoo (a shoulder piece, not a small one) that looks like it was done today.
Now I’m feeling a bit confused and honestly frustrated because it seems like she was able to tattoo someone else the same day she cancelled on me.
