Hello all. I feel pretty hard stuck on Mage and would love perspective from people who are actually good at the class and the game in general.

For context: I played Rogue a bit at WoW launch, DK during BFA, and came back for Midnight and started PvPing more. I probably have ~10–15 days played in WoW total and maybe ~3–4 days played on Mage specifically. Maybe the answer is just play more but figured I would share that upfront.

Current ratings are around 1600-1700 Blitz, 1400-1500 SS, and 1400-1500 2s (with a VW Disc Priest). I try to queue a lot so it varies by 50-75 each day.

I’ve done the normal stuff with his help: Conquest PvP gear, watched guides, basic understanding of talents etc.

Blitz is probably my favorite but the queues take forever. It is the most fun for me because my screen isn't giving me a seizure on most fights. In SS/Arena, my games basically feel like I am running for my life the whole time, trying my best not to blow too many defensives at once, while my other teammates do some stuff to the enemy team.

My overall feeling is compared to games like OW, there is so much visual clutter that I really have a difficult time figuring out what is the "optimal position" and "decision" in the moment. When we win a game it feels like the enemy team just had shitty gear or made some mistakes versus I really made an impact and contributed and outplayed, which feels bad.

Is this a matter of played time and just queuing more? Should I start trying to PvP with a class with an easier learning curve? My goal is just to break 2K and then I can retire from the game a happy man, knowing I have beaten my friend's best rank.

Thank you.
