Hi folks, I should have redone this varnish a few years ago… but here we are, I’m determined to get it done this summer. All the exterior windows & doors need doing.
Currently my plan is to:
- Remove loose varnish with a scraper tool
- Sand the wood with a block to take off as much grey wood as possible (and freehand in the gaps where a block won’t fit). Not sure which grade of sandpaper.
- Treat with wood preserver e.g. cuprinol
- Apply a couple of coats of stain & varnish (or an all-in-one stain & varnish).
Anything you’d do differently? Any advice or recommended tools / materials? Thank you!
