How do you keep your nibs so clean?

How do you keep your nibs so clean?

I found a 1995 Parker Sonnet when I was going through my dad’s things after he passed away. I cleaned it up and am already down the rabbit hole trying different inks and paper but I can’t keep my nib clean. I can get it pretty close but when I try to wipe it with a paper towel after refilling it just bleeds so much ink that it’s wet again. Is it important to keep the nib clean or is it just for nice pictures?

In the pic I have admitted defeat. I can get the nib cleaner than in the pic, but not as perfectly clean as I see here every day.
