Hi everyone,
I’d really appreciate some advice or perspective on this situation.
Two years ago I had an emergency home visit from a private clinic in Dubai because I wasn’t feeling well (fever / general condition — not a life-threatening emergency, but I needed medical help urgently).
During the visit, I was given multiple IV medications and treatments on the spot.
Recently I reviewed the invoice and the pricing honestly shocked me. Here’s roughly what I was charged:

Doctor consultation (home visit): 299 AED
Blood tests (CBC + CRP): 500 AED
IV treatments:
Saline: 350 AED
Paracetamol IV: 500 AED
Dexamethasone: 500 AED
Pantoprazole: 500 AED
Diclofenac: 500 AED
Ceftriaxone (antibiotic): 650 AED
Nebulization: 300 AED
Nursing: 150 AED
Total is quite high, especially considering these are common medications.
My concerns:
I don’t remember being informed about the cost beforehand
I don’t recall giving clear consent for this many medications
I’m not sure all of these were medically necessary for my condition
It felt a bit like a “pre-set package” rather than tailored treatment
I understand that home visits and private care include service, convenience, and administration costs — but this still feels excessive.
I’ve already contacted the clinic asking for: full medical records, justification for each medication, pricing breakdown.. sorry, but paying AED 4249 without being warned of price was too much…

Now I’m trying to understand:

Was this normal pricing for emergency home visits in Dubai?

Has anyone successfully disputed something like this?

Is it worth escalating to the Dubai Health Authority?

Would really appreciate any advice, especially from people familiar with healthcare in the UAE.
Thank you!
