My partner and I got approved for this property a couple of weeks back, we got the keys for the place, I was going the condition report and behold…black mould and rot!!! Right behind the bedroom door that shares the same wall as the bathroom. Note: my partner inspected the property and on surface level it looked good, the place was dirty but she expected that it’d be cleaned before someone moved in. It was not.

The place was FILTHY! Bandaids in the shower, body hair in the shower and toilet, all outside bins full, food left in cabinet, ALL glass screens greasy and fingerprints everywhere, I could go on and on…but omg definitely not up to standard. When we contacted the realestate manager, she ensured us it met “MINIMUM STANDARDS” when she did her report. Mate. No it did not.

EDIT: all bedroom doors did not close. At all. That’s a security risk (means it’s not minimum standard). Also the side gate…did not shut, had like 4 deadbolts on there and nothing aligned- that’s also a security risk.

We withdrew our application the following day. We got out first months rent back and now waiting on the bond.

Such a waste of time. And we had our hopes up.

On a real note: an apocalypse would be terrifying, no matter how educated you are, things are unpredictable. So here’s my scenario:

You have a partner, they also have a family… what would you do? Would you try convince them to go to see your family? Would you put your family second? What if they suggested to seperate from you just so they could go to their family?

Take into consideration, your partner isn’t educated on zombies, and you know more than them…how would this impact the decision?

I’d really love to see everyone’s take on this, because this would be a realistic situation…you’d either choose the love of your life and be with them throughout the apocalypse or you choose your family.
