I don’t think I’ve ever had to go through this much hoop jumping just to get a call center position, I feel like I’m being tried for murder with how nitpicky they seem to be.

pending the horror of sharing my W2s, I seem to have passed, but I’ve had so many hiccups from offer to now that my head is spinning. no, I don’t have a college degree (which the lowest option to pick was associates so, um, hello?), I had a certification that expires upon nonrenewal, and no I can’t just share the expired certificate because it’s from a decade ago and not in the field of work I’ve been in the last 5 years. did I mention it’s when I lived in a completely different state and I moved multiple times since I had it? that thing is long gone.

Wage transcript for the franchise store of the company I used to work at? yeah ok! paystubs too? well they used quick books and I don’t have access to that because they closed, so.…also it’s a franchise, so the parent company’s name doesn’t actually show up on the transcript.

literally I’m going from one part of the field of work to another (and it’s basically the same thing! both patient-facing but one is remote). my husband works for a company that made him sign NDAs and he’s never been grilled as hard as I have.

was talking with my husband about webcomics I used to read and this one’s killing me because I can see the art style so vividly but I can’t remember enough specifics to hunt it down myself.

it’s foremost a comedy, with hilarious situational and sight gags/facial expressions, but has a really engaging plot.

main character is a boy, he either gets powers or he’s thrust into this magic world on accident and he makes friends with this (Indian?) girl, she has a talent for maybe light magic? I remember a purple with yellow accents theme about her clothes. there‘s a bully-turned-friend situation with a guy (in a red shirt) who keeps making threats at him (their first interaction involves a baseball bat), magical dodgeball during PE and whatnot leads to shenanigans there.

there’s also a haunted train scene an everyone’s taking that exactly how one should when faced with haunted machinery.

there’s also a character who’s a clock owl, as in he’s an owl-faced clock or something to that effect, with The Great Owl-type eyebrows/mustache. he’s like one of the mentor character’s familiars, because he’s on a staff I think? or is the staff?

I’d recognize the name if I saw it. I would have read it around the time I read The Meek, Tj and Amal, Gunnerkrigg Court, Awkward Zombie, Helvetica, and Hanna is Not a Boy’s Name. the last time I read it, the owl clock character was vaguely threatening the trio (or maybe just the protagonist) about something related to time stopping(?).

whenever I try any combination of the facts I remember I seem to get Harry Potter or Owl House or even Magic School Bus. At my wit’s end here!
