Hello all, I'm new to the z3 world, but not so new to old Bmw's. I recently picked up this 1998 2.8L with about 150k on it for $1000. I knew it would need lots of love to get it running again and I managed to do so (along with some future proofing of the coolant system). Now im re-working the brakes and suspension.

Now for the problem child. The front left brake is dragging.

I replaced the pads and rotors on all four corners, and both calipers up front. The remanufactured front left caliper did not come with a new brake braket so I cleaned up the old one and reinstalled it.

Brake still dragging, replaced both front brake hoses.

Brake still dragging, warrantied the left brake caliper and replaced the bracket when the warrantied one didnt come with a bracket for the 2nd time.

Brake is still dragging.

As far as I can tell, there is not residual pressure being held I the caliper, and the slide pins are working fine when I compress the piston and slide the caliper by hand.

This last fix is much better so far and the wheel is getting warm but not hot to the touch after a 30 min drive. Do we think these Cardone reman calipers are just junk?

Other parts recently changed: inner-outer tie rods, control arms, lollypop bushings (M3 offset ones, rubber), and sway bar links. The whole front end essentially.

TLDR: Brake stuck, no fun, big sad.
