How do performing arts classes/electives work in NYC? I have been teaching theatre and technical theatre in Texas for 9 years where almost every school has a full time theatre teacher. My current school has 3 and we are a suburban public school.

Does every MS/HS school have a theatre teacher? what does the job landscape look like there? Is it full time or is it more commonly a teaching artist who services multiple campuses?

I don’t necessarily want to teach at a performing arts HS. I generally would like to be a theatre teacher at a general middle school or high school.
